Marek Raivel is a composer, film scorer, pianist, and conductor based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He currently attends the Carnegie Mellon School of Music, studying composition under Dr. Katherine Pukinskis and conducting under Daniel Nesta Curtis.
Marek strives to tell compelling stories through his music, drawing influence from the vivid imagery of impressionist composers, the versatility of 21st century film scorers, and the natural beauty of New England where he grew up. He also carries a special passion for traditional Irish music. As a film composer, Marek collaborates with professional and student filmmakers, scoring for both live-action and animated productions. He specializes in nature-based films.
As a pianist, he has performed with the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic and the Carnegie Mellon Contemporary Ensemble, premiering new music in both.
Marek currently serves as an Assistant Conductor of Carnegie Mellon’s All University Orchestra and works as a score engraver for the tech company Ion Concert Media.
